UGA dining hall menus, with the nutrition actually read rather than reprinted.

Common questions
Why does an item show “—” instead of a score?
Either you haven't filled in your profile yet, or that item publishes no nutrition. The app would rather show nothing than a number built on data it doesn't have — a rollup row like “Sandwich Bar” has no nutrition of its own, so it gets no score.
A hall says it's open, but it's closed.
Hours cover the regular Fall and Spring week. UGA's holiday and break closures aren't in the app, so on Labor Day or during a break the app can say a hall is open when it isn't. The hall list says so under the list. Check UGA Dining Services for closures.
The scanner doesn't find anything.
It reads text off a physical menu sign, so it needs a sign in front of the camera with enough light to read. If the camera is denied, the app still works everywhere else — scanning is a shortcut into logging, not the way in.
Where does “% full” come from, and how current is it?
UGA Auxiliary Services' public occupancy counter — the same feed behind the university's own “Dining Check” page. The app reads it, it doesn't estimate it. When the counter is switched off or unreachable the figure is simply absent, and nothing else about the hall list changes. The “usually busy around…” line underneath is a different thing entirely, and not a measurement at all: nobody publishes occupancy history, so it's a single estimated curve for the whole campus built from what's been reported publicly about the lunch rush. It's labelled as a guess wherever it appears, and a live reading always overrides it.
Do I have to connect Apple Health?
No. Health import fills in height, weight, age and sex so you don't have to type them, and writes your logged meals back if you let it. Everything it imports can be entered by hand, and anything you type is never overwritten by a later import.
Can I trust the allergen warnings?
Treat them as a starting point, never as clearance. Allergen information comes from UGA's published menu and supplier ingredient lists, which are sometimes incomplete — some items publish no ingredient text at all. An item showing no warning has not been proven safe. Always check with dining hall staff.
Where do the calorie and macro targets come from?
The Mifflin–St Jeor equation, which is a population-level estimate. Individual energy needs vary by roughly 10% from it even when every input is exact. These are not medical advice — talk to a doctor or dietitian before making big changes.
What does the score mean?
0–100, combining how healthy the food is (sodium, saturated fat, sugar and fibre against the FDA Daily Value), how it fits your own macro targets, and what its ingredient list contains. Items with trans fat or a restricted additive are capped at 49 regardless of everything else. How much the macro half counts depends on your macro style: the bodybuilder split weights protein heavily, the default weights how healthy the food is.
Privacy
The app collects nothing, has no account and sends nothing anywhere except requests to UGA's own two public feeds — the menus, and the occupancy counter behind “% full”. The full policy is here.
