Privacy Policy

Dawg Dining · Effective 16 September 2026

Dawg Dining collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no server of ours for anything to be sent to.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page explains what the app does touch, and why each of those things stays on your phone.

What stays on your device

Your profile — height, weight, age, sex, goal, macro style, allergies — and everything you log to eat are stored as files inside the app's own private container, which only this app can read. Cached menus are stored the same way so the app works without a signal. Deleting the app deletes all of it. None of it is backed up to any service of ours, because there is no service of ours.

Apple Health

If you grant permission, Dawg Dining reads height, body mass, date of birth and biological sex to estimate your daily calorie target, and active energy, exercise time, stand time, step count and workouts if you turn on Health-based activity. If you grant permission, it writes the meals you log — energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat, saturated fat, sugar, fibre, sodium and cholesterol — back to Health as dietary samples.

Health data is read and written on your device only. It is never transmitted anywhere, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or marketing. You grant or refuse each data type individually in the Health app, and you can revoke any of it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. The app works without Health permission; every value it would import can be typed in by hand.

Camera

The scanner reads text from menu signs using on-device text recognition. Camera frames are processed as they arrive and are never saved, uploaded, or sent anywhere. No photograph is kept by the app. Scanning is optional — every other feature works with the camera denied.

Location

If you grant while-in-use location, your position is used to sort the dining halls by distance. It is used in the moment and discarded: it is never stored, logged, or transmitted. The app works without it, and says so on the control that asks.

Network

The app makes network requests to exactly two destinations, both of them UGA's own public feeds:

Neither request carries any identifier of you — no account, no device ID, no advertising ID. Neither one is told what you searched for, what you logged, or anything in your profile. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising networks and no third-party trackers in this app.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and the previous version stays in this page's revision history.
